The Chatham County District Attorney's Office employs a specialized Elder/Disabled Adult Prosecutor to prosecute crimes against the elderly - i.e. prosecutes persons who abuse, neglect, or exploit disabled adults or elderly persons (65 years of age or older).
This position was established in 2006 and was the first of its kind in Chatham County's history, and possibly the State of Georgia as well. Former District Attorney, Meg Heap, was the first Prosecutor to hold the position. Presently Margaret Deleon holds this position; which she assumed in 2014.
